DIY Project #2: Tissue Paper Pom Poms

When I was 16, I had a summer job at Kings Dominion working at the Hanna Barbera Store. One of my responsibilities was working the tissue paper flower booth attached to the store. So basically I had to sit in the hot sun and make gigantic tissue paper flowers to sell. Sounds fun, huh?

The other day while thinking of creative & inexpensive decorations for my bridal shower (yes, I will be helping decorate)... I thought about the tissue paper flowers. After a quick google search, I found a direct link to good ole Martha Stewart's website showing how to make them.

Tissue paper pom-poms are a great way to decorate inexpensively and easily and they dont have a 'cheap vibe' if done correctly! I'll post pics on the ones Ive made myself and how we use them to decorate my shower in a few weeks!! :)

How to Make the Pom-Poms
You'll need tissue paper and 24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.
Hanging Pom-Poms
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.
2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.
3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.
4. Tie a length of monofilament to floral wire for hanging.
