Real Wedding - Valerie & Lee

Today's real wedding feature is Valerie & Lee King. The couple met at Florida A&M University and started dating in 2002. They wed on July 21, 2007 in Washington D.C. in front of 150 guests. They currently reside in the Philadelphia area.

Valerie is definitely in the DIY Club. She shared several creative things they did for their big day. Check it out:

  • To highlight where they are both from, they had a crab dip that was served at the reception cocktail hour with recipe cards that read "Philadelphia-Maryland Crab Dip" with the recipe that contained Philly cream cheese, and Maryland Crab. It was a laminated keepsake that had Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Maryland Old Bay seasoning samples attached to it.
  • Also, instead of place cards for seating assignments, they used votive candles. When it was time for the guests to enter the reception room, they received votive candles with their names and table numbers on them. The hostesses lit the candles as they entered the room, so when everyone got to their tables, and put the candles on the table, it added a more romantic feel to the room.
  • For favors, each place setting had a Hershey's HUGS and a Heshey's KISS wrapped in sheer turquoise fabric with a tag that read, "Hugs and Kisses from the new Mr. & Mrs." It took hours to put together!
  • She made wreaths from silk flowers to hang on the front of the doors to the reception room that formed their first initials. They hung them on over the door hooks.

Valerie & Lee did a great job adding creative, personal touches to their wedding day! They had a lovely wedding and make a great couple! By the way, I absolutely love the black and white pic of Valerie getting ready!
